Industrial Rotary Gearboxes

Mann-Makhene Machinery Services provides quality industrial rotary gearboxes. We also offer gearbox on-site or shop preventative maintenance, inspection, and overhaul. We refurbish & manufacture parts such as shafts, bearings & gear sets for gearboxes and carry out gearbox & gearbox bearing inspections for our customers.

We specialise in all types of high speed & low-speed industrial rotary gearboxes, including:

Epicyclic Gearboxes

A planetary gear train consisting of the sun, planets, carrier, ring, and components.

Speed Reduction Gearboxes

Gears used to reduce the velocity of the input from the motor while improving torque.

Speed Increaser Gearboxes

Gears used to increase the engine speed to the optimal efficiency of the equipment.

Cooling Tower Gearboxes

For increasing and reducing the speed of large industrial fans.

Fridge Plant Gearboxes

High-speed gearboxes used for cooling large refrigerators.

Special Design Considerations

Our industrial rotary gearboxes are designed to achieve years of trouble-free operation. We are consistently improving our analytic, design, and manufacturing techniques to keep up with new technologies as operating speeds rise and reliability requirements become crucial to minimize the high cost of downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

A gearbox is a speed-changing device that realises the speed-change effect through the meshing of large and small gears within the gearbox unit. It has many applications and can change the speed of industrial machinery. The configuration of a gearbox is such that a large gear is usually installed on the low-speed side of a gearbox, and a small gear is installed on the high-speed shaft. Acceleration or deceleration is achieved through the meshing and transmission between the gears. Gearboxes are used for acceleration and deceleration to change the transmission direction, torque, and power distribution.

Industrial rotary gearboxes are mechanical devices used to transmit power and motion between two rotating shafts. They are commonly used in industrial applications such as conveyor belts, pumps, and fans to reduce the speed and increase the torque of a motor. Gearboxes can be classified into different types based on the type of gears they use, the arrangement of the gears, and the number of stages. Some common types of industrial rotary gearboxes include helical gearboxes, bevel gearboxes, worm gearboxes, and planetary gearboxes. Each type has its own unique characteristics and is best suited for specific applications.

Gearboxes are essentially multiple open gear sets contained in a housing. The housing supports bearings and shafts, holds in lubricants and protects the components from surrounding conditions. Gearboxes are available in a variety of load capacities and speed ratios.

Gearboxes are also known as gear drives and are named for either the arrangement of their shafts or the way they mount to the driven equipment. Shaft orientation, speed ratio, design type, nature of the load, gear rating, environment, mounting position, operating temperature range, and lubrication are some elements to consider when choosing a gear drive.

Industrial Rotary Gearboxes have many applications that allow them to change the speed of industrial machinery. A large gear is usually installed on the low-speed side of a gearbox, and a small gear is installed on the high-speed shaft.

Acceleration or deceleration is achieved through the meshing and transmission between the gears. Gearboxes are used for acceleration and deceleration, to change the transmission direction and torque and distribute power.

Gearboxes are used in a wide range of industrial applications to transmit power and torque from one device to another. Some common industrial applications for gearboxes include:

  • Conveyor systems: Gearboxes are often used to drive the rollers on conveyor belts to transport materials in factories, warehouses, and other industrial settings.

  • Pump systems: Gearboxes are used to drive pumps in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, water treatment, and chemical processing.

  • Fans and blowers: Gearboxes are used to drive fans and blowers in HVAC systems and other industrial ventilation systems.

  • Material handling equipment: Gearboxes are used to drive cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment in a variety of industrial settings.

  • Packaging machinery: Gearboxes are used to drive the motors on packaging machinery such as filling and labeling machines.

  • Food processing equipment: Gearboxes are used to drive the motors on food processing equipment such as mixers, grinders, and conveyors.

  • Printing machinery: Gearboxes are used to drive the motors on printing presses and other printing machinery.

  • Textile machinery: Gearboxes are used to drive the motors on textile machinery such as spinning and weaving machines.

  • Machine tools: Gearboxes are used to transmit power and torque to the cutting tools on machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and drill presses.

  • High operating temperatures.
  • Excessive sound and vibration levels.
  • Premature bearing failure and excessive wearing of the pinion shaft.
  • Unscheduled maintenance plan.
