Over the years, Mann Mann Makhene Machinery Services has built up a vast knowledge base on blowers, specifically Industrial Blowers.
We specialise in a wide range of blower services, including, but not limited to, minor inspections, short-term and long-term overhauls, refurbishing, manufacturing, reverse engineering, removal, relocation, and installation, to mention a few.
Industrial blower types that we work on are either centrifugal, axial, or positive displacement.
We specialise in conducting Major & Minor Overhauls on all types and sizes of blowers, the most common ranging between 10 000 to 40 000 CFM and the largest being 100 000 CFM.
We have been responsible for the complete refurbishment of many brands of industrial blowers, including the following:
- Positive Displacement / Rotary Lobe Blowers.
- Helical Screw Blowers.
- Centrifugal Blowers.
- High-Speed Blowers.
- Regenerative Blowers.

What are Industrial Blowers?
Industrial blowers, also known as fans or air-moving devices, are mechanical devices that are used to move air or other gases. They are commonly used in industrial processes, such as ventilation, dust collection, and material transportation, as well as in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems.
There are several different types of industrial blowers, each of which is designed for specific applications. Some of the most common types include:
- Centrifugal blowers:
These blowers use a centrifugal impeller to move air or gas. They are commonly used for large-scale ventilation and material transport systems. - Axial flow blowers:
These blowers use a propeller-like impeller to move air or gas. They are often used in HVAC systems and other applications where a relatively low pressure is required. - Positive displacement blowers:
These blowers use a positive displacement mechanism, such as a rotary vane or screw compressor, to move air or gas. They are typically used in applications where a consistent flow rate and pressure are required, such as in pneumatic conveying systems. - Low-pressure blowers:
These blowers are specifically designed to create low-pressure airflow, such as in negative pressure ventilation systems or to create draft for combustion equipment. - High-pressure blowers:
These blowers are designed to create high-pressure airflow, such as in some pneumatic conveying systems, or to push air or gas through long ducts and pipes. - Regenerative blowers:
These blowers use a unique impeller design that creates a continuous flow of air or gas. They are commonly used in applications where a high volume of air or gas needs to be moved at a low pressure, such as in fish tanks or medical ventilators. - Linear blowers:
These blowers use a linear motor to move air or gas. They are commonly used in applications where a high pressure is required and space is limited, such as in portable air conditioners or vacuum cleaners. - Turbo blowers:
These blowers use a turbine to compress air or gas. They are commonly used in large-scale industrial applications, such as in power plants or petrochemical refineries, where a high volume of air or gas needs to be moved at a high pressure.
Each of these types of blowers have its own advantages and disadvantages and can be adjusted depending on the task.
Industrial blowers can be powered by electric motors, internal combustion engines, or steam turbines, depending on the application and the availability of power. They come in different sizes and materials, depending on the pressure and temperature requirements of the process.
Blower systems are usually designed for a particular application and requirement, it’s also essential to maintain and keep a regular check of the system to ensure that it is functioning as efficiently as possible.
